Survived Another One
Well, Val and I survived another "Oktoberfest" in La Crosse, Wisconsin, our 14th. Besides the fest, we always go dancing at a little place called Nutbush City Limits, not to far from Renee's (Val's sister)place. If you have never been to a real Oktoberfest I suggest checking this one out. Only bad thing is trying to get a room might be hard. Most the hotels are booked a year and sometimes two years out. The parade alone attracts 100,000 people. Besides the parade, one of the highlights of the festivities is the tapping of the "golden keg" which takes place on the first day of the fest at 10:00 a.m.. Hey, it's noon somewhere....

Who Will Be The Victor?

I, myself, am a big Arkansas Razorback fan and being that the first college game I attended was a Wisconsin game there will always be a place in my heart for the Badgers. This game to many Iowans is the most important game of the season. The victor gets bragging rights and the loser has to take sh@* from the other side all year long. Kudos to the winner, I am neutral on this one.

Cubbies..............
The good 'ol Cubs are driving me crazy. I have been a Cub's fan since I can remember and I should be used to this crap. I have faith, the Cubs will prevail.
A fellow devout Cub's fan, Paul Lawrence, who used to sit in our section at the Iowa Cubs (triple A) passed away last Thursday. His family had a memorial at the ballpark; his ballcap on the back of his seat and Go Cubs Go piped throught the P.A. system. After the ceremony everyone sang "Take Me Out To The Ballgame". A few days before he went to the ballpark in the sky he said, "I believe it's their year". Paul, I hope you are right.

Sister Sue Update...
Val and I went to Little Rock over Labor Day weekend and stayed with my sister Sue. Mark flew in and stayed with my other sister Brenda. We had a barbeque on Saturday and the "gang" was all there. My nephews Jeremy & Jeff (Josh couldn't make the trip), my brother Ron, sister Brenda, Sammy (Sue's Hubby), Sammy's brother Bert and Sammy's mother Darlene. You'd think we had planned a family reunion or something. It was great seeing everyone.
Sue is a little thin and stubborn as ever. She finally drank an Ensure just to shut me up. It was amazing that after she drank it she had this burst of energy. I fear she won't drink anymore, can't stand the smell. I wish there was a pill (Lord knows she takes enough already)that would put a few pounds on her. Next trip, Thanksgiving.

Blah, Blah, Blah
Okay, I know I said I was going to keep up with my blogging and I don't have an excuse. Honest, I will really try to do better.
